About us:
Children's Harbor is a nationally accredited child welfare agency that is dedicated to keeping brothers and sisters together while they are in foster care, strengthening families who are in crisis throughout Broward County and guiding youth who are aging out of foster care towards independence. Protecting children through treatment and supportive services, Children’s Harbor offers a well-integrated system of care, staffed with clinical professionals, to keep children safe while their families are given the opportunity to heal.
Mission:
Keeping Siblings Together. Strengthening Families in Crisis. Guiding Youth Towards Independence.
Program:
We provide residential services in a family-style setting for foster children and community based services for the prevention and intervention of abuse and neglect. Our Residential Foster Care Program provides a safe and loving home-like environment, while keeping brothers and sisters and pregnant or parenting teens, together while in the foster care system. Our Family Strengthening Program sends counselors out into homes in Broward County communities to work with the families and prevent the removal of children from the homes.
Results:
Local businessman, Bill Mahoney, dreamt of building a place where siblings could grow up together; a place where children would feel safe and loved; and a place where children in foster care would know they matter. Bill shared his dream with other community-minded individuals and in 1996, Children’s Harbor was established. Today, Children’s Harbor impacts over 775 at-risk children and their families across our continuum of care.
